Match Support Specialist (TEMPORARY) – [Los Angeles, CA]

Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles (JBBBSLA) seeks to immediately fill a temporary Match Support Specialist (MSS) position in Los Angeles while simultaneously searching for a permanent MSS staff.  For the temporary position, we will first consider candidates with prior BBBS experience.  It is likely that the position will continue approximately through sometime in June.

Position Description

The function of this temporary position is to provide interim match support (monitoring and supervision of mentor/mentee matches) for a caseload of approximately 65 matches within our community-based program.  JBBBSLA mentees are offered a range of additional opportunities through our agency, including free summer camp and retreats, college guidance and college scholarships.  MSS staff collaborate with other staff/departments to ensure our mentees benefit from these opportunities.  The temporary MSS also may be asked to conduct Match Introduction Meetings if needed.

The position’s principal goals are to ensure child safety, positive impact for youth, and constructive and satisfying relationships between children and volunteers. Incumbent will execute a high degree of independent judgment while adhering to BBBSA (Big Brothers Big Sisters of America) standards and practices.  High-level customer service, focusing on volunteer options, youth protection, healthy matches and customer satisfaction, is to be demonstrated throughout the match support processes.

Education/Related Work Experience Required

Minimum Bachelors degree in social services, psychology, social sciences, or related field and two years prior experience in one of these fields.  Assessment and relationship development experience with child and adult populations, as well as experience working with volunteers; understanding of child development and family dynamics.  Prefer specific assessment, intake or interview experience.  STRONGLY PREFER previous experience with a Big Brothers Big Sisters affiliate.

Salary Range

$20 per hour

Additional Requirements

May be asked to work some evening and/or weekend hours.
