Position Description

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Charlotte is seeking a total of six VISTA members who through their service, will help our organization expand its anti-poverty programming and increase its capacity to serve more area children and youth.  To increase our service capacity, it is essential that we also increase our fund development though events and from corporations.  It costs approximately $1,200 a year to create and support one “Big”/”Little” mentoring pair.  We are seeking and energetic, creative and out-going VISTA Events and Corporate Outreach Specialist, who likes working in a face-paced environment.  The VISTA Events and Corporate Outreach Specialist will help prepare for and implement four major fundraising events annually.  After each event, this person will do a full assessment to determine its Return on Investment. You will also serve by developing a more robust corporate outreach plan, identifying new, mid-size corporations with a presence in the Charlotte area and crafting a plan for how to approach these corporate groups, for events sponsorships or program support.   You will be a part of a talented and hard-working development team that is dedicated to increasing the revenue generated by our agency, so that we can serve more local children and teens.

Qualifications

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have some college education
  • Complete a background check
  • Have strong communication skills and be comfortable with public speaking
  • Have solid understanding of computers/technology
  • Ability to work independently or on a team
  • Be passionate about serving children and youth
  • Car is recommended. Outside work/classes permitted, during off hours.

Every year, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Charlotte creates and supports impactful mentoring relationships for over 1,500 local children and teens, age five to eighteen years old.  Through our programs, young people facing adversity receive much-needed additional support and guidance so they can overcome their challenges and achieve success.  Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Charlotte is at the forefront of our community’s drive to not only serve children in need, but to open their minds to a myriad of possibilities, while supporting them along their path forward.
