Position Description

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Charlotte is seeking a total of six VISTA members who through their service, will help our organization expand its anti-poverty programming and increase its capacity to serve more area children and youth.  To increase our service capacity, it is essential that we expand our marketing and communications efforts across the Charlotte region.  In order to raise the additional funding and recruit the needed volunteers that are pre-requisites of program growth, it is essential that Big Brothers Big Sisters clearly and effectively communicates who we are, what we do, our impact on local children and the value of supporting our organization.  We are seeking a creative and organized VISTA Marketing and Communications Specialist, who is able to work independently on multiple projects.  In the coming months, our agency will undergo a name change and you will be involved in this re-branding, with website upgrades and expanding our social media presence.  You will help us tell our story, using multiple channels including videography, and be a part of a talented and hard-working development team that is dedicated to increasing the revenue generated by our agency, so that we can serve more local children and teens.

Qualifications

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have some college education
  • Complete a background check
  • Have strong communication skills, with special interest in online communications / social media
  • Have solid understanding of computers/technology
  • Ability to work independently or on a team
  • Be passionate about serving children and youth
  • Car is recommended. Outside work/classes permitted, during off hours.

Organization Description

Every year, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Charlotte creates and supports impactful mentoring relationships for over 1,500 local children and teens, age five to eighteen years old.  Through our programs, young people facing adversity receive much-needed additional support and guidance so they can overcome their challenges and achieve success.  Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Charlotte is at the forefront of our community’s drive to not only serve children in need, but to open their minds to a myriad of possibilities, while supporting them along their path forward.
