NFL Launches Inspire Change Initiative, Advancing National Conversation, Progress on Social Justice

The National Football League today announced the launch of the Inspire Change initiative, showcasing the collaborative efforts of players, owners and the league to create positive change in communities across the country. The joint NFL players-ownership committee recently approved two new social justice grants. The grants were issued to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA) and Operation HOPE. BBBSA will use the funding to support agencies across the country as they create long-term mentoring relationships that empower youth to reach their full potential and help communities connect across racial and economic divides. Operation HOPE will utilize the funds in support of their nationwide work within underserved communities to equip young people and adults with the financial tools and education to secure a better future.

Arby’s Joins Big Brothers Big Sisters Focus on Mentorship Gap

There are 30,000 American children waiting for a mentor, according to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the national organization devoted to matching mentors (“Bigs”) to children (“Littles”).   The Arby’s Foundation is helping sound the call for Bigs with a new TV spot called “The Big Wait” which is running as a public service announcement for the next six months on cable and digital channels including AMC, USA, FOX, Discovery and Hulu.

The brand transformation, including a new logo, new colors, and new messaging, is part of a multi-part strategy by Big Brothers Big Sisters of America to build the foundation that will enable the organization to recruit more volunteers to become mentors (“Bigs”) to youth (“Littles”) in their communities. WellCare CEO Named Big Brothers Big Sisters of America’s Board Chair

The Board of Directors of the nation’s oldest and largest mentoring organization has elected the CEO of WellCare Health Plans, Inc., Kenneth A. Burdick, to serve as Board Chair and has added two new Board members: Jeff Fetters, the Chairman and CEO of Federated Insurance, and Robert Sanchez, the Chairman and CEO of Ryder System, Inc.
