ALSTOTT FAMILY FOUNDATION HOSTS SPORTS BUDDIES DAY
<<back to In The News
More than 200 Bigs, Littles and BBBS staff from across Tampa Bay came out for the Mike Alstott Family Foundation Sports Buddies Day at Tropicana Field on Sept. 27th. Upon arrival, matches were greeted by HSN volunteers, who came together (80 of them!) to volunteer at this event as part of Service Nation's Day of Action. Everyone received offical event t-shirts and headed off to have some fun with a variety of acitivites arranged for the day, including horseshoes, 3-legged race, hula hooping, face painting, and more.
After everyone enjoyed a ball-park style lunch, former Buccaneer Mike Alstott joined the group, signing t-shirts and doing a football toss with the Bigs and Littles. He then mingled with attendees at their various play stations on the field. Lawrence Samuels of the Tampa Bay Storm and fellow BBBS spokesperson, joined the event too with his family and his new Little Brother. He joined in the friendly game of touch football that eventually started up.
As the day came to a close, Mike held a short VIP reception that was won by the teams who rasied the most money from the 2008 Bowl for Kids' Sake campaign. He posed for group photos and signed autographs for those winners. Everyone had a truly great time! Many thanks to the Alstott Family Foundation for hosting this fantastic event, to HSN employees for volunteering their time to run the event and to the Rays for allowing the use of ther field.
