Elects Members, 2009 Officers
LANSING, Mich. (February 2, 2009) - Big Brothers Big Sisters Michigan Capital Region is pleased to announce the election of the 2009 Officers of its Board of Directors, as well as appointments to the Board.
The Board of Directors re-elected David Hunt II, of St. Johns Big Boy/Mason Big Boy; Neil Hufnagel, of Fowler Public Schools; Frank Harrison Reynolds, of Foster, Swift, Collins & Smith, P.C.; Rodney Stokes, of State of Michigan Department of Natural Resources; and Doug Vettraino, of DeWitt Public Schools; all to their second three-year terms.
Amanda Garcia-Williams, an Associate with Foster, Swift, Collins & Smith, P.C. in the Employment, Labor and Benefits practice group, was also elected to the Board. She is co-author of several publications and a member of the Human Resource Management Association of Mid-Michigan, the Michigan Public Employers Labor Relations Association and the Hispanic Bar Association.
Gregory R. Walthorn, CPA, of Plante Moran Financial Advisors, was elected President of the Board of Directors. Walthorn has been a member of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Board of Directors since 2003. He served as Treasurer of the Board from 2006 through 2008.
Vettraino was elected Vice President of the Board of Directors. Vettraino was appointed to the Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clinton & Ionia Counties in 2004, and when the agency merged with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Lansing in 2006, was named to the Board of the combined Big Brothers Big Sisters Michigan Capital Region.
Andy Sheets, of Lyman and Sheets Insurance Agency, was elected Treasurer of the Board. Sheets joined the Board in 2007 and served as Secretary in 2008.
Hufnagel, Superintendent of Fowler Public Schools and Principal of Fowler High School, was elected as Secretary. Hufnagel was elected to the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clinton and Ionia Counties in 1999, and served as President of that Board from 2003 until the 2006 merger.
Outgoing members Dean Hartenburg, of Clinton Memorial Hospital; Lisa McCafferty, Ionia County Health Officer; and Angela Thornton, of Independent Bank; were honored in December 2008 for their services on the Board of Directors. Timothy Durso, of The Centennial Group, was recognized for his two years of service as Board of Directors President.
