Early last month, children from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County, The Boys & Girls Club of Newburgh and NHS Human services participated in an incredible opportunity when they answered a casting call to take part in a Toys “R” Us holiday commercial titled “Make All Their Wishes Come True.”
Children from the agencies and organizations involved were collected on a bus for a field trip. They were greeted by Geoffrey the Giraffe when they arrived at their destination, followed by a surprise revelation that they were going to spend some fun-filled time at the local Toys “R” Us location in Middletown, N.Y.
When a casting call searching for organizations to provide their children with the chance to have some fun was released, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County jumped at the chance. Children from the participating organizations had the opportunity to select any toy they wanted, while a film crew captured the experience for the commercial. They welcomed the opportunity to provide a little fun for the children.
“The invitation to participate in the commercial created a flurry of activity for our agency which resulted in a positive and memorable impact for our children and families,” said Nancy Kosloski, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County’s Executive Director. “This experience aroused our kids’ imaginations, boosted their confidence and gave them a chance to be placed on common ground with children from other organizations in our community. Especially for children who are growing up facing notable adversity, the chance to be lifted by the generosity and kindness of others is a meaningful and significant experience in their lives.”
Each of the participating organizations received a corporate donation of $7,500 to go toward supporting their respective missions of serving children.
