Former Big Sister of the Year in the Running for Cleveland Indians’ Mentor of the Year

Respected journalist and former Big Sister of the Year (2000) Margaret Bernstein is in line for another accolade: the Cleveland Indians’ first Mentor of the Year award. The Cleveland Indians choose to recognize people deemed extraordinary mentors who make profound positive impacts in the Cleveland community.

Candidates nominated and selected as finalists are judged according to several factors as they align with values carried out by the Cleveland Indians organization, including impacting Cleveland’s youth education and recreation, and how they make a “broad and positive impact” in and around northeast Ohio.

As a journalist from the Cleveland area, Margaret is keenly aware of the issues that have an impact on her community. As a former Big Sister of the year and staunch advocate for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, she knows firsthand the benefits of mentoring.

The end results for the voting competition to see who will be the recipient of the Cleveland Indians first Mentor of the Year award will be announced on Tuesday, Jan. 21. To learn more, go here.
