Vans has recently opened registration for a competition geared toward high school students, encouraging them to get creative by designing a custom artistic shoe design on a blank pair of Vans shoes. This could be a fun opportunity for any Bigs with older Littles to look into. See details below.
Van's Fifth Annual Custom Culture art and design competition
Vans, the action sports shoe and clothing company, opened registration for its fifth annual Custom Culture art and design competition for high school students nationwide today on January 6, 2014. Vans created Custom Culture to encourage students to harness their creativity – and compete for the chance to win a $50,000 donation for their schools’ art program – by creating the most artistic design using blank Vans shoes as a canvas. The top five schools will win an all-expenses paid trip to New York City for a cultural art tour and to attend the final award event.
Art is not just a creative outlet; it is a vital part of the student experience and a key driver of success both in school and eventually in the workforce. Unfortunately shrinking budgets in public schools across the country have impacted funding for arts programs which are often the first to get cut.
You can get more information, and register, by going to www.vans.com/customculture.
Note - Interested high school students need to sign up through their schools with their art teacher, so if this is something you'd like to do, share this information with him or her!
