"Spending time with my Little Brother is easy.  Stuff I’d do anyway is more fun with him."

Volunteering is fun!
Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is one of the most rewarding and enjoyable things you will ever do.  It's easy too...just 4 hours a month can change a young person's life!  Getting together is a great time for both Bigs and Littles.  It doesn't require a special occasion or expensive activities- just a few hours every month sharing simple things you already enjoy.

Your time and attention is worth more to a Little than you realize.  Being a Big is about spending quality one-on-one time with a child and enjoying all sorts of activities together.  Littles are between 6-17 and all share one thing in common- They need the friendship and guidance of someone like YOU!  Becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister is designed to build a match based on shared interests, personality and your volunteer preferences.  Then we continue to support your frienship through Match Support- we're here to help!

Our Programs
Community-Based Mentoring: For as little as an hour a week, Bigs and Littles meet in their community to share fun activities, stories, and a little bit of themselves.

School-Based Mentoring: Bigs and Littles meet once a week in schools, libraries and community centers to talk and have fun.  It's not about being a tutor...it's about being a friend.

Mentoring Children of Prisoners (MCOP): The objective of this program is to create quality, lasting one-to-one relationships that provide children of offenders with caring role models for future success. Mentors provide opportunities for youth to gain new skills and interests and expand their experiences beyond their families, schools, and neighborhoods by acting as a trusted friend.

"As a Big, you're simply a friend. Your friendship fits your lifestyle. Busy people of all ages can get involved-                       choose the program that works best for you!"  -Ron, age 54, Big Brother

Have a background check  Because childhood safety is our priority, we will perform a multi-layered background and DMV check.

Provide references You'll need to provide at least two references of people we can talk to about your ability to be a mentor.

Get Matched  We will review the kids in your area who need a Big Brother or Big Sister and find the best fit for you. Depending on your gender and the kind of child you'd like to work with, matching may go very quickly or take some time.  Making the right match is important to our commitment to form lasting relationships.

Get Support  When you're part of something Big, you're not alone. Each match is supported by our professional staff. Match support specialists regularly check in with volunteers, children, and parents, and are always available to answer questions to support your friendship.

We also hold Match activities throughout the year, giving you an opportunity to meet other Bigs and Littles in the community.  Plus, through the generosity of our partners and individuals in your community, there are often free tickets to ball games, the theater, and more!
