Helping Austin Donates $93,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas

Helping Austin, a local organization chartered to raise funds for charitable organizations supporting at-risk youth, recently donated $93,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas. The funds, raised during their annual gala, the Ice Ball, included a $33,000 donation from Michael Angelo's Gourmet Foods, Inc. and will support mentoring programs in Travis, Williamson and Hays counties. Over the past five years, Helping Austin has raised more than $165,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas through this event.

Big Brother of the Year and his Little Brother Invited to University of Texas Longhorns Football Practice 

National Big Brother of the Year Ben De Leon and his Little Brother Anthony take some time out to "Hook 'Em" with University of Texas Longhorn's Quarterback Colt McCoy and Wide Receiver Jordan Shipley during football drills in the practice bubble. Anthony and Ben also met Junior Defensive End Sam Acho. This experience was a dream come true for Anthony who plans on attending The University of Texas one day, just like his Big Brother Ben did.  

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas receives 2009 Time Warner Cable Education Award from Austin Chamber of Commerce

Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Central Texas is proud to be the recipient of the 2009 Time Warner Cable Education Award in the non-profit category from the Austin Chamber of Commerce. The award recognizes an organization that demonstrates contribution and philanthropy within the community to support education. BBBS is thrilled to receive this recognition! 

Congratulations to Austin Big Brother Ben De Leon - The 2009 National Big Brother of the Year!

Austin's Ben De Leon has been named Big Brother Big Sisters of America's 2009 National Big Brother of the Year. De Leon accepted the award at BBBSA's national convention in Miami in June. His Little Brother Anthony also attended and helped Ben celebrate his honor. Way to go Ben!
