Bequests and Trusts

If you’re considering including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas as a beneficiary of your bequest or trust, please contact the BBBS Development Department at 512-472-5437. A planned gift to Big Brothers Big Sisters ensures the continuation of our landmark mentoring programs and creates your own legacy of support.

The recommended legal bequest language is: "I bequeath to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas, Inc. [written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property] to be used or disposed of as its Executive Board of Directors in its sole discretion deems appropriate."

Gifting Stock

Gifts of appreciated securities owned for more than one year offer a twofold tax savings.  First, you avoid paying any capital gains tax on the increase in value of your stock.  In addition, you receive a tax deduction for the full fair market value of the stock on the date of the gift. 

If you wish to make a gift of stock, the easiest way to do it is to instruct your broker to transfer the stock to RBC Wealth Management via the DTC (Depository Trust Company) # 0235, account # 301-14255.  You may also send it to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas at 1400 Tillery St., Austin, TX 78721.  Please send it via registered mail. 

If you have depreciated securities, it is generally advisable to sell them first, and then donate the proceeds.  Thus, you may be able to take a tax deduction for both the loss and the charitable gift.
