Big Brothers Big Sisters helps children reach their potential through professionally supported one-to-one relationships with measurable impact.
We are not merely a Non profit organization- we are a social profit organization
Our "profits" are kids who stay in school , avoid drug and alcohol abuse, improve academic performance, avoid gang violence and stay out of the juvenile justice system. Replicating this process for thousands of local children and volunteers each and every year, we begin to move and reshape our community.
Who would teach under privileged kids the importance of developing money management habits and set them up with a $50 savings account? That's exactly what RBC Bank, NC Minority Financial Support and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle did. NC Minority Financial Support taught 14-youths ages 6-14, over the course of 5-weeks, what a savings & checking account are, the difference between a loan and gift and why interest is a big deal. And oh, by the way, RBC Bank set every child up with a $50 savings account.
Teaching and developing the future leaders of tomorrow how to manage and make their money grow.

Our impact on children
Bigs and Littles have fun together — and create memories that last a lifetime. We call it “Little moments … Big magic.” Research points to the powerful, positive, lasting impact Bigs have on children’s lives. Littles are:
52% less likely to skip school
46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs
More likely to get along with their families and peers
Big Brother Joe always encouraged his Little Brother Thomas to strive for academic excellence and to take school more seriously. Throughout high school, Joe stuck by his commitment to inspire and help his Little Brother navigate the challenges, and his efforts paid off handsomely. Today, Thomas is a successful college student. Attention Big Sisters!
Do you have a Little Sister who is at least 10 years old?
Would you like to learn ways to better communicate with your Little?
Be part of a new project with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle and RTI International, called the Healthy "Little" Lives project. Healthy "Little" Lives is a training program for Big Sisters on how to effectively communicate with your Little Sisters about tough issues for adolescent girls, specifically sexual health issues and bullying behavior. The training includes two sessions by yourself and one with your Little Sister. These sessions are scheduled throughout January, February, and March in Durham and Raleigh.
For taking part in the Healthy "Little" Lives project you will receive a pair of movie tickets to a local theatre, a small gift bag, a gift certificate for you and your Little Sister, and a completion certificate.
