Development Staff:
Katie Williams is the Grant Coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle. She is originally from Tallahassee, Florida where she also attended Florida State University. Katie graduated with a BS in Family and Child Sciences in 2005 and received her Masters Degree in Public Health in 2008. Katie is a proud Army wife and enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with family. She joined the BBBST team in May 2008.

Durham/Orange Staff:
Stacey Carbre is a Match Support Specialist for Orange and Durham counties. She comes to Big Brothers Big Sisters with a BS degree in Sociology,Psychology from South Carolina and has many years experience working in the human services field, ranging from hospital setting, mental health center, senior center, battered women and children center to here at BBBST. She has one daughter adopted from Guatemala.
Mike graduated from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania in 2002 with a bachelors in social work degree and a minor in sociology. Prior to moving to North Carolina, he lived in both Pennsylvania and New York. He has been with the agency since 2005, and been an Enrollment and Match Specialist with both the community and site-based programs. He is currently the Lead Site-Based coordinator for BBBS of the Triangle.
Kaara De Freitas is from the beautiful southern Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago. She came to the United States in 2003 to attend Benedict College in Columbia, SC. She graduated in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in social work and plans to pursue her M.S.W. at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill beginning in May 2008. Kaara joined the BBBST team in October 2006 and presently serves as the Lead Match Support Specialist for Orange County.
A native of Richmond, VA, Ashley C. Taylor graduated from North Carolina State University in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and minors in Biological Sciences and Africana Studies. Currently, she is pursuing her M.P.A. at North Carolina Central University. Ashley joined the BBBST team in July 2008 and presently serves as a Match Support Specialist for Orange County.
Vannessa V. Griffin-Thomas, Match Support Specialist for Durham County BBBST Program Office. Employed with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle August, 2007. A graduate of Lehman College, Bronx, NY hold a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Black Studies.She relocated to North Carolina from Bronx, New York in 2001.
Tommy was born and raised in Durham, NC. He received a BA in Sociology with a minor in Anthropology from Appalachian State University. He has been working with BBBS of the Triangle as an Enrollment and Match Specialist for Orange County since August of 2005. Tommy is a huge Carolina fan, cherishes his family and friends, loves Artica (his dog), and is very proud to be part of the Big Brother Big Sister family.
Wake County:
Tracie Collins is the Customer Relations Specialist for BBBS of the Triangle. She is a Native of Georgia and attended Emmanuel College and Columbus University. She has 13yrs of experience in Youth development in working with Communities and Schools. Tracie has a passion for helping children reach their goals and full potential in life. She is a family oriented person and in her spare time likes to sing and listen to all types of music.
Kelsey graduated from Penn State University in May 2007 with a BS in Human Development and Family Studies and was a member of the Lady Lions Softball team. After an internship with Big Brothers Big Sisters in State College, PA Kelsey worked as a Case Manager there for a year. She is originally from North Carolina but moved with her family to State College in 1996. Kelsey returned to NC in July 2008 and is currently the Assistant Site-Based Coordinator for BBBS of the Triangle. She is excited to continue her work with the BBBS organization.
Tanya Roper is the Lead Enrollment & Match Specialist for BBBS of the Triangle in Raleigh NC. She is from Fayetteville NC. She attended Fayetteville State University and graduated with a BA in Sociology and minor in Social Work. She has 8 yrs of experience in non-profit working with potential at risk youth. She enjoys spending time with her family, shopping, listening music, and helping others.
Ashlee N. Thomas, Bachelors of Science in Public Affairs with a concentration in Non Profit Management. Ashlee graduated from Indiana University Bloomington in May 2007. She moved to Knightdale, North Carolina in August of 2007. She likes to go to the Beach but can’t swim. She believes the children are our future.
