Remembering Marco Aaronson
Big Brother (94) Marco Aaronson passed away this past Friday, February 26, 2010. Feeling this dramatic loss will be his two daughters, and his long time Jewish little brother, Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters Board Member, Past President and Lifetime Achievement Award Winner, Bob Waldorf.
Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles’ (JBBBS) matched Bob with Marco in 1946. Together for over 60 years, “the families begin to blend together when a match lasts even for several years." In 2004 Big Brothers Big Sisters of America recognized Bob and Marco as being the longest Match in the 20th Century! Bob grew up and flourished having Marco’s influence. Bob became an excellent husband, father and grandfather, successful in business, passionate and compassionate and a strong leader in his community. “He even became a big brother himself two times” says Margy Feldman, President/CEO of Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles. “Bob is an Icon of JBBBS and this match will always be a part of the strong fabric that is JBBBS. It is what makes us successful; men like Marco who devote their time, and help children reach their potential, sometimes, many times, just like this, for a lifetime.”
