POSITION: Program Internship/Volunteer

INTERN/VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES: Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County is looking for a Program intern/volunteer who is trustworthy and demonstrates initiative. The Program intern/volunteer primarily updates and maintains several key projects within the Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County Program Department. The internship/volunteer opportunity is a supportive role that requires one to work efficiently on team-based and independent projects relating to our clients and volunteers. Projects may include: traveling to our site based programs to help Match Support Specialists with match supervision (mileage is reimbursable), filing closed files, assisting specialists in administrative tasks such as copying and mailing and other program related projects as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills, be computer literate with an emphasis in Microsoft Office programs, have great attention to detail, and must be able to protect the confidentiality of our clients and volunteers. Previous office experience is desired but not required. Strong writing and communication skills are pluses. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is also a plus.
INTERN QUALIFICATIONS: College credit may be available depending on the requirements of your college or university. A degree is not required. A background or interest in Social Work, Psychology or Sociology with a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 is ideal. This is an unpaid internship. Intern candidates should be available to work 10-20 hours. Intern/Volunteer must pass a background check.
