Ambassador's Group

The mission of the Ambassador Program is to assist the Big Brothers Big Sisters Recruitment Team with the recruitment of volunteers, especially Big Brothers, by connecting us to individuals who may want to volunteer and/or organizations with people who would make great Bigs.  These organizations include, but are not limited to: small and large businesses, social clubs, the faith community, associations, alumni groups, and/or sports leagues.

The Ambassador will help Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County identify the best way to approach these groups.  Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County has found that many organizations will allow us to speak for a few minutes, host a brown bag lunch meeting, or promote Big Brothers Big Sisters in a newsletter on their website if we approach the right person.  That's where we need your help!

The Ambassador Program is flexible.  You can choose ways in which to assist the Recruitment Team's recruitment efforts during the year and can assist at times most convenient to you.  You will meet with other Bigs and parents of Littles to come up with ways that you can help to recruit new Bigs.  Members will create their own goals and determine the extent to which they can assist with recruitment efforts.  Quarterly meetings are planned to determine each member's individual progress as well as overall group achievements.  Individual goals may be:

  • Identifying specific ways that you can directly or indirectly recruit Big Brothers for various programs
  • Working to generate a number* of Big Brother inquiries throughout the course of a year (*you will determine the number at your first Ambassadors meeting)
  • Providing Big Brothers Big Sisters Recruitment Team with updates on any agreed upon action items via agreed communications
  • Providing access to corporate, community organizations or events, which will be beneficial in the recruitment of new volunteers.  Additionally, share with Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County the names of key people within these groups to speak with.

Potential Bigs could be the people you least expect: your boss, your neighbor, even your significant other. Help us reach these people, and together, we will help reduce the number of waiting Littles in San Diego County.
