STAND! for our Children

BBBS has launched STAND! for our Children, a campaign that is designed to recruit 100 African American male volunteers in 100 days. Pat Williams from the Minnesota Vikings is the spokesperson for the STAND! campaign and will appear in a PSA airing on WUCW-TV for eight weeks between February and April.
Of the more than 800 young people waiting for a mentor, 27% are African American boys. Finding African American men to serve as Big Brothers will have ripple effects far into the future. Studies have shown that:
· 77 percent of children involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters improved their self-confidence
· 55 percent improved their relationships with peers and adults
· 53 percent were able to make better decisions
· 30 percent were less likely to engage in violent behavior
· 48 percent improved their academic performance
Our children, our neighborhood, our responsibility. All it takes it two to four activities a month to make a difference in a young boy’s life. BBBS challenges you to STAND! for our Children today and make a difference!
