July 2009 - Match of the Month
Big Brother Jeff Anderson & Little Brother Cameron Gillespie

Match enjoys a great time at this year’s Rockin’ Ribfest!

Cameron Gillespie and Jeff Anderson have been matched for exactly 3 years and 48 days in our community based one-to-one mentoring program, per Little Brother Cameron’s calculations on June 19th, 2009. Cameron also offered to give us the precise time (in hours and minutes) since his match with Big Brother Jeff started.

It’s no surprise that Cameron enjoys being with his Big Brother since they are always doing something fun together!  They have gone to Disney on Ice, Pride games, Wolves games, Monarch games and in June enjoyed the festivities at this year’s Rockin’ Ribfest.  The two also love sports and Jeff and his wife have gone to Cameron’s baseball games.  However, Cameron enjoys just going to Jeff’s house to hang out.

Cameron’s favorite thing about his Big Brother is that he is really, really nice and has a good personality. Jeff loves Little Brother Cameron’s caring nature. Jeff told us that when they went Christmas shopping together, Cameron used the money he was saving to purchase a Christmas tree for his family’s home. Cameron’s favorite part about having a Big Brother is that when he’s having a bad day at school, “he can just sit down and go out with Jeff”.  Big Brother Jeff states that his favorite part about having a Little Brother is that “he can watch Cameron grow and experience life.”

The match has changed both Cameron and Jeff’s life. When asked whether they plan to keep in touch long into the future, both answered definitely! Cameron even went on to say that he plans to keep in touch since Jeff is like a Dad to him. You can be sure that Cameron will still be able to tell you his exact match length in minutes, even a few years from now!
