Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids’ Sake. Organizing a team for this event has never been more important for the children on our waiting list. While the number of mentoring matches between volunteers and children continues to grow, so does the number of children referred to our program.
Bowl for Kids’ Sake is the largest community-wide fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Nashua & Greater Salem. It is a Campaign for Kids to raise funds and awareness in support of matching at-risk children with volunteer mentors through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. The campaign is comprised of several separate bowling events, scheduled March through June, bringing individuals and organizations together to have fun while also securing needed pledges of support.
What makes Bowl for Kids’ Sake important to Big Brothers Big Sisters?
Bowl for Kids’ Sake generates one-third of the agency’s annual operating budget (the single largest source of agency funds), of which 85 percent supports program-related activities.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Nashua & Greater Salem served over 500 children in 2011. However, with additional children referred to the program annually, there are more than 100 children still on the waiting list.
How Can You Help?
· Be a Team Captain and form a team with four other friends, family or co-workers - A great team building opportunity for companies!
· Each Team member (incl. Team Captain) solicits at least at 10 sponsors of $10 each. For example each bowler brings $100 in pledges; each team raises $500 in pledges! Enough to remove a child off the waiting list.
· Each member of the team has a pledge sheet (paper or online) and gets people to sponsor them to bowl. Online pledging system is called Firstgiving. Goto https://www.firstgiving.com/bbbsnashua to create your own personal fundraising page.
· Arrive at your group’s event with your completed pledge sheets or online pledge amount and enjoy a BFKS t-shirt, two free games of bowling, pizza and beverages. It is our way of saying thank you for getting pledges to support our mission.
· We encourage every bowler to set a goal of at least $100 in pledges (a personal goal if using the online pledging system). If each team member reaches this goal, we have raised enough to take a child off the waitlist.
· We would appreciate if bowlers bring their pledges directly to the bowling alley but we would be happy to invoice uncollected pledges for bowlers. Sponsors who prefer invoicing should provide all pertinent information such as address, phone number, and full name.
