What is Pennies for Promise?

Pennies for Promise is a year-long penny collection campaign dedicated to supporting Bigs and Littles at Big Brothers Big Sisters and its partner agency, Trinity River Mission.

How does Pennies for Promise work?

The campaign brings together children and adults alike to encourage philanthropy, civic engagement and mentoring. These individuals work together to organize Penny Collections at schools and businesses, volunteer as penny drop off collectors for Big Brothers Big Sisters and Trinity River Mission or help support the campaign through community events, administrative assistance or marketing.

Remember…The change is up to you!

Whether as a donor, a volunteer or a mentor, your contribution to Pennies for Promise pays dividends that go far beyond measure. You help ensure access to educational programs and personal mentoring that makes a real difference in the lives of literally hundreds of disadvantaged students each and every year.  We encourage you to read on and learn how you can contribute.

How can I help?

There are several ways to contribute to the Pennies for Promise campaign:

1) Provide a personal financial contribution.

Please make your checks payable to “Pennies for Promise”.   Checks should be sent to:

All donations are tax-deductible. Those who contribute $250 or more in a single donation will automatically receive a receipt by mail. Receipts for contributions of less than $250 are available upon request.

2) Become a Corporate Sponsor.

Pennies for Promise welcomes and encourages support from members of our business community. While all levels of donation are welcome, Major Underwriters (those contributing $2,500 or more) receive special acknowledgment on Pennies for Promise promotional material, including posters, event signage, collection cans and direct mailers. 

3) Volunteer your time.

Volunteers and parents are invaluable to the ongoing success of Pennies for Promise. Throughout the year, we offer scores of opportunities for individuals, families, school groups and social organizations to share their time and expertise. We are always seeking volunteers to assist with:

•           organizing Penny Collections at schools and businesses

•           assembling penny pins, sacks and collection cans

•           administration and marketing

•           providing support at community events, and

•           you can talk to us about becoming a BIG!
