"Thanks to my Big Brother Carlos, I'll be heading to the college in the fall. That wasn't even a consideration a few years ago."

Big Brothers Big Sisters is committed to bringing the power of mentoring to youth from traditionally underserved communities. Through the following specially designed programs, we are able to target specific populations and communities.

Amachi Texas – Mentoring Children of Prisoners

While many programs reach out to those incarcerated, very few address the specific needs of the children affected by this situation. The Amachi Texas program is designed to address these needs and alter the potentially negative direction of these children’s lives. The Amachi Texas program ensures that these children will benefit from the interaction of having an additional caring adult in their lives. This program is a joint initiative of the Office of the Governor, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, OneStar Foundation and BBBSNT. Learn more »

Pass It On Texas: Outdoor Mentoring

The Pass It On program matches Littles with an interest in the outdoors with caring adults who want to "pass on" their passion for the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, shooting sports, water sports, hiking, camping, birdwatching are just a few of the options that let the Little enjoy the wonders of the great outdoors. Learn more »
