Big Champions

What is it?
In early 2005, Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Texas (BBBSNT) took a hard look at the ever-present challenge of recruiting volunteer mentors in the community. What was learned through different market research was that focus for potential volunteers must be placed upon the "experience" of mentoring, not agency needs and goals.
To that end, we expressed this experience to potential Bigs by asking one simple question:
"Who is the person who brought a little 'magic' into your life growing up?"
Playing upon the success of the enormously popular "GOT MILK?" campaign, we borrowed powerful elements of this campaign to develop the concept for our own campaign ... Big Champions.
BBBSNT was fortunate to have several local celebrities step to the front of this effort, including:
Troy Aikman (Dallas Cowboys)
Derek Castillo (NBC)
Tony Dorsett (Dallas Cowboys)
Devin Harris (Dallas Mavericks)
Shannon Hori (CBS)
Eddie Johnson (FC Dallas)
Ron Kirk (Former Dallas Mayor)
Mike Modano (Dallas Stars)
Brenden Morrow (Dallas Stars)
Drew Pearson (Dallas Cowboys)
