What is Sports Buddies?

Big Brothers or Big Sisters will be able to take kids to selected sporting events and gatherings which are scheduled through the BBBS office.  While many of these events were once out of reach for these children, now they will be able to experience these events together with a caring adult mentor. Both spectator and participatory sports will be made available on a monthly basis for both volunteer and child to experience together.

What will I get out of being a Sports Buddy?

The opportunity to spend time with a child and share in their growth by enhancing their life in ways they could never dream of themselves.  Through this program, the volunteer as well as the Little will get to experience big time sporting events together, as well as participatory sports activities throughout the Metroplex.

How do you join Sports Buddies?

How much time will I have to commit?

Each Big Brother or Big Sister is asked to commit to this relationship at least twice each month, for at least two years.  The proven success of this program is predicated upon the consistent contact between the Big and the Little, and the longer this relationship stays together, the more successful the match becomes.

What will I have to do with my Little?

You can register for special events and programs that are hosted by Sports Buddies each month, which may include tickets to local sporting events, tours of local sports arenas or stadiums or instructional opportunities for Bigs and Littles to learn a new sport together.

Are there any other opportunities we can enjoy together?

Yes!  If you would like to get together at another time that doesn't have a Sports Buddies event taking place, you can go see a movie, grab a bite to eat or just hang out together as friends just like the rest of our community-based matches.  Your agenda is up to you!
