Eugene Lockhart's Laying It On the Line Raised $518,234 for BBBSNT

Inspired by Oprah Winfrey’s call for one million mentors for children, former Dallas Cowboy’s defensive dominator Eugene Lockhart tackled a new goal of providing mentors to 500 North Texas children by camping out at Texas Stadium, moving his camp site from one end zone to the other – 10 yards at a time. The former NFL All-Star set up camp in the visitor’s end zone for his Laying It on the Line campaign at Texas Stadium on Sunday, July 15. He advanced 10 yards down the field for each $50,000 raised until he eventually landed in the Cowboy’s end zone with enough cash to sustain 500 children in mentoring relationships in North Texas. His total raised for the event was $518,234,

Bigs and Littles closed out the event on Friday, July 20 with a football game on the Texas Stadium field coached by Lockhart and former Minnesota Vikings’ NFC Offensive Rookie of the Year Alfred Anderson.  After the announcement of the $518,234, Littles celebrated with a touchdown celebration contest then assisted Lockhart in moving his campsite to the Dallas end zone. Visitors that came out during the week of his stay to support his initiative included Tony Dorsett, Patrick Clayton, Dan Campbell, Too Tall Jones and other former NFL stars.

What's Laying It On the Line:
Former Dallas Cowboy Eugene Lockhart was "Laying It on the Line" this past July for the children of North Texas! Highlighting the need for safe, caring mentors in the lives of at-risk children, Eugene camped-out on a local football field 24 hours a day until he raised enough funds to place 500+ North Texas children in a new mentoring relationship with a Big Brother or Big Sister. Lockhart exceeded his goal of $500,000 by raisinig $518,234 by 3 PM on Friday, July 20.

Local radio, print and television media will be lined up to cover Eugene's  progress as he moves from one end zone to the other in increments of 10 yards (representing every $50,000 pledged.)

Moving To the End Zone Means More Mentors:
Every $50,000 pledged provided new mentors for 50 kids and moved Eugene 10 yards downfield and closer to meeting his goal of $500,000.
