Join Hands Day Event – Stockton
We participated in the Join Hands Day event on Saturday, May 2, 2009 with local Fraternal Benefit Societies. America's Fraternal Benefit Societies began nearly 150 years ago as part of a volunteer movement to provide social, educational, and financial help to people with various ethnic, religious, and vocational backgrounds. Today, with more than 10 million members in 40,000 chapters across America, these societies help their members achieve financial security through insurance coverage and retirement products. They also have a rich tradition of volunteering, and that tradition continues through programs such as Join Hands Day.

This year we volunteered at the Stockton Emergency Food Bank where we labeled and sorted 6+ pallets of canned fruits and vegetables. These pallets were stacked 6 layers high with 144 cans per layer. Above is a picture of BB, Rick and his LB, Jarod.
This event provided first-hand realization of the need to assist families in our community. It also allowed our Littles to help make a positive difference in another person's life. People were waiting in the rain for food when we arrived and the line was still long when we completed our volunteer time.
Thanks to Sarah and Estella and the matches that volunteered at this event!

Wine on the Waterfront
Wine on the Waterfront is one of the oldest and greatest wine and food tasting events of the valley! Located along Stockton's historic Waterfront and new downtown marina, this annual fund raising event has expanded over the past few years from the sampling of a few fine wines to an event which showcases the tastes of close to 100 fine wineries, restaurants, caterers and micro-brewers. Guests will receive a complimentary wine glass and tray for their tasting enjoyment and will stroll from table to table sampling the area's finest food and beverages, enjoying fine jazz and other musical entertainment. A balloon raffle and silent auction adds to the evening's fun. Enjoy the Delta breezes and the wonderful waterfront setting
