Ronnie Polaneczky’s Daily News cover story about Big Sister Teresa Graves is a powerful story of loss and inspiration.  Becoming a Big Sister with BBBS SEPA was Teresa’s response after her son was murdered three years ago in a senseless act of violence.  Teresa has said that three lives were lost that day—her son’s as well as the lives of the two young men now serving life in prison for his murder.  But, by becoming a Big Sister (and encouraging others to become Bigs), she hopes to save the lives of other children.

Bigs and Littles have fun together - and create memories that last a lifetime.  Independent research confirms that the time that these Bigs spend with a child — reading books, playing games, eating ice cream — can make a profound difference in the life of a child.

Littles are less likely to begin
using illegal drugs and alcohol; less likely to skip school
or classes; and better able to get along with friends and family.

made and supported 4,300 mentoring matches between children and "Bigs."
