Lead BIG! Big Brothers Big Sisters Advocacy Day
A Field Trip to Make a BIG Difference in Mentoring
February 18th, 2008
Nearly 160 Bigs, Littles, Board members and staff (in a sea of purple) from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound and our BBBS partner agencies in Portland, Bellingham, Thurston County and Spokane, met with 93 legislators on a unexpectedly warm and sunny day in Olympia on Monday, February 18. Washington Governor Christine Gregoire and Eldon Vail, Secretary of the Washington State Department of Corrections, spoke to our group, and we received a standing ovation from the Senate following recognition by Lt. Governor Brad Owen. Most importantly, State Senators and State Representatives heard from us about the importance of mentoring in youth and children’s lives.
