Your dodgeball skills could change a child's life.
Have fun going to Mariners games, exploring parks, and playing kickball with a local child. Just a few hours of fun and games every other weekend can make a BIG difference to a child in your neighborhood.
Activities like kayaking in the Puget Sound and exploring trails in the Cascades are out of reach for many of our Littles. You can help a child experience these activities for the first time by becoming a volunteer in the MoveBIG! program.
All you have to do is hang out, have fun, and MoveBIG!
Who We Serve
MoveBIG! is a mentoring program that engages Bigs and Littles in movement-based activities such as sports and other outdoor activities. We serve matches in the Puget Sound region who share a willingness to be active and a commitment to being in a mentoring relationship. Our Littles are enrolled between the ages of 7 and 16 and our Bigs are 18 years and older. We interview and screen our volunteers and children to ensure a positive fit and experience for everyone involved.
How We MoveBIG!
We offer MoveBIG! to Bigs and Littles in our program who wish to experience a mentoring relationship in a unique way. Matches commit to participating in events focused on physical activities and sporting events twice a month for a minimum of six months. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound plans and staffs all the events, making it even easier for our matches to relax and have fun. Activities vary by month and season, and include outings such as kayaking, playing basketball at a local park, watching a Seattle Mariners game or hiking in the foothills. Bigs and Littles simply show up and enjoy hanging out.
Both spectator and participatory sports and activities will be made available on a monthly basis for volunteer and child to experience together. The majority of MoveBIG! activities are held on Saturdays and are located throughout the Seattle-Tacoma corridor, providing convenient locations for each region. Professional match support is also provided during activities and over the phone.

Why MoveBIG!?
While these activities and events were once out of reach for many of our Littles, they will now be able to experience them with a caring adult mentor. Volunteers will get the opportunity to spend time with a child and share in their growth by enhancing their life in ways they could never dream of themselves.
Each Big Brother or Big Sister is asked to commit to meet with their Little at least twice each month for a minimum of six months. The success of this program is predicated upon the consistent contact between the Big and the Little, and the longer this relationship stays together, the more successful the match becomes.
MoveBIG! matches can register online for special events and programs that are hosted by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound each month.
