10th Annual SportsBall Gala-July 2007

SportsBall is our annual fundraiser to raise much needed funding for all of our programs.  SportsBall has carried the tradition of "Games for Grown-Ups, Futures for Kids". 

Annual Fall-o-Ween Party-October 2007

Over 200 children participated in our first annual fall-o-ween party hosted by BBBS and Holiday Inn Select Memphis East.  Our children and youth had an opportunity to participate in coloring contests, painting the pumpkins, face painting, karokee, hoola-hoop contests, musical chairs, dancing contests, and to receive LOTS & LOTS of candy!   We appreciate all of the volunteers, BIGS, and individuals who donated time, talent, or treasures! 

Annual Holiday Party-December 2007

The 2007 holiday season was outstanding.  18 of our families were adopted (receiving toys, clothes, and food), all our our children and youth received a toy at the annual holiday party, and we hosted a holiday party for them at the Malco Paradiso.  We are definitely grateful to Briarcrest Christian School and Memphis Marines Toys for Tots for assisting us with our giving tree program, Chick-fil-A for providing breakfast for the holiday party, and to all of the companies and individuals who helped with our Adopt-a-Family Program.  Also, Thank you to FedEx Employees for volunteering at the holiday party.  Below you will find pictures of our children and youth at the Holiday Party.

2008 DUB Tour Car Show & BBBS Showcase-April 2008

Over 50 of our children had a huge treat when Mr. Myles Kovacs, President of DUB Publishing, spoke about making positive choices and making a difference in the lives of others and the community.  Mr. Kovacs also helped our agency to celebrate 40 years of mentoring Memphis' youth.  Not only did our children have a very interesting presentation from Mr. Kovacs but they also had an opportunity to view all of the fabolous cars.   

 2nd Annual Volunteer Reception-May 2008

To show appreciation to our mentors and volunteers, we hosted a volunteer appreciation reception at the Botanic Gardens.  Over 300 mentors and volunteers enjoyed a live jazz band, give-a-ways, and plenty of food and dessert.  We also announced the BIGS of the Year and gave special recognition to those volunteers and mentors who go beyond the call of duty.   Congratulations to Mr. Peatron Cummins and Mr. Marvin Worles for Co-Big Brothers of the Year for Greater Memphis!  Congratulations to Dr. Nancy Owen Phillips for Big Sister of the Year for Greater Memphis and State of Tennessee!  WE LOVE OUR MENTORS & VOLUNTEERS!
