" I believe in BBBS because I feel that every child needs a positive role model. Whether that is from home, school or another source, such as BBBS. I decided to become a Big after being inspired by a friend who has been a Big Brother for a few years. Since becoming a Big, I have influenced 3 others to become Bigs. I had the time to do it and made the commitment to do so. I have enjoyed my little sister and hope I can stay with her until she graduates from high school in about 10 years - and longer if possible.
The impacts of positive mentoring are immeasurable. "The reason I believe in this program is because there are so many children and adolescents that do not have role models in their lives or are at a disadvantage because of their economic status. I think it is important for us to volunteer our time to these individuals because every child wants to feel like they are important to somebody.
