Big Brothers Big Sisters is the oldest, largest, and most effective youth mentoring organization in the United States. We've been in the Bay Area since 1958. In March of 2006, 3 Bay Area agencies consolidated and became Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area to serve children in Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara Counties. Our mission is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one relationships that provide measurable impact. "Professionally supported" means our trained staff works with the family, the Little and the Big to provide the support needed to ensure a quality relationship. And "measurable impact" means we take the time to assess our results every year.
Our recent consolidation enables us to serve more children, more cost effectively and with greater impact. Our services are always free to the families, volunteers, and schools we work with, yet every match we make only increases our expenses. We rely on local, grass-roots fundraising to support our work. Our goal is to serve more kids throughout the Bay Area. We plan to work more closely with businesses, schools, and faith-based organizations in order to reach that goal.
If you want to change a child's life forever, you can become a "Big", make a donation, or get us involved with your place of employment. The results will speak for themselves.
