USF Partnership
USF Head Football Coach Skip Holtz and Head Men’s Basketball Coach Stan Heath teamed up with Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Sports Buddies program. This spring the coaches played ball with “Little Brothers” to film a public service announcement to recruit more male mentors. You can find out more about our Sports Buddies program by clicking here. A special thanks to the University of South Florida and Bright House Networks for making this possible!

Real Life Stories
"I only landed in the bush once!" Little Sister, Faith, exclaimed about a recent bike outing at the St. Pete Pier with her Big Sister Janene. For the first time, Faith was able to steer a bike and felt so accomplished in front of her Big Sister. Faith and Janene have enjoyed a variety of activities this summer including a Rays baseball game on a summer night, dodging dragon flies at a local city park and watching a sunset at Madiera Beach. Faith is getting ready for the new school year. Last year Faith's grades improved greatly to nearly all A's and she attributes this to her hard work, her Big Sister, and her tutoring at Kumon. Faith said, "I feel proud." When asked to describe her feeling about her progress in school. Janene's involvement with Big Brothers Big Sisters has evolved beyond her volunteerism as a Big Sister. She has recently become a member of the Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Speakers Bureau participating in speaking engagements throughout the community. One of her recent presentations resulted in the recruitment of five male "Bigs". Janene's deeper involvement continued when she discovered that her employer provided a matching gifts program that provided a monetary donation for the time she volunteers with the agency!
