Big Brothers Big Sisters serving Pinellas, Hernando & Citrus Counties is a financially sound and healthy charity. We consistently strive to be good stewards of the donations given to us from all sources, and follow all applicable rules and tax laws.
Where We Get and Spend Money
We are proud to be affiliated with the Juvenile Welfare Board, and are a charity in good standing with the United Way of Tampa Bay, United Way of Hernando County and United Way of Citrus County. As a percentage of our income, our funding comes from the following sources:

As conscientious stewards of our funding, 81% is put directly towards our program costs to provide services to the children in our local communities. Management, general expenses, and volunteer recruitment constitutes 10% percent of our costs, and 9% goes towards fundraising and special events .

Forbes Magazine: In its most recent review, Big Brothers Big Sisters was selected by Forbes Magazine as one of its top ten charities, making the publication’s “gold star” list of charities worthy of donor consideration. The magazine surveyed 200 non-profits and rated them on how efficiently they collect and distribute dollars. Forbes looked at three categories: charitable commitment; fundraising efficiency, and donor dependency.
