Home Depot Kids Workshop
The workshops are free, how-to clinics designed for children ages 5-12, available on the first Saturday of each month between 9 a.m. and noon at all Home Depot stores. Children, accompanied by an adult, use their skills to create objects that can be used in and around their homes or communities. Guided Nature Hikes - Weedon Island Preserve
Every Saturday from 9:00am - 11:00am, you can take a guided hike through coastal mangrove and upland ecosystems of the Weedon Island Preserve (1800 Weedon Island Drive NE, St. Petersburg 33702). Be sure to bring water, a hat, and closed-toe shoes for this two-hour hike. Recommended ages 6+. Pre-registration required. Call 727-453-6500 to register.
Guided Nature Hike - Brooker Creek Preserve
Each Saturday morning from 9:00am - 11:00am, take a guided hike along the Education Center Trail (3940 Keystone Rd, Tarpon Springs 34688). On this 0.75 mile walk, you'll look at how the land has changed over time and discuss the ecological footprints left by those changes. Sturdy closed-toe shoes are a must, and water and a hat are recommended. Admission is free and pre-registration is required and space is limited.
