BBBS CEO, Carlos Lejnieks, Named to Governor-Elect Christie's Transition Team!
(Dec. 3, 2009, Newark, NJ) - The Transition Team of New Jersey Governor-Elect Christopher J. Christie has announced the appointment of President & CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Essex, Hudson & Union Counties, Carlos Lejnieks, to serve on the Education Sub-Committee.

Carlos had the opportunity to speak about the power of our work after tragic events in the City of Newark. Mayor Booker asked Carlos to speak about mentoring as one of his central strategies to reduce crime in the city alongside Director of Police, Gary McCarthy, County Prosecutor, Paula Dow, and the Mayor himself. Carlos implored everyone listening to sign up to mentor a child and do what they could to stave the violence through the power of prevention.
