Sue Johnson is the Chief Executive Officer for Big Brothers Big Sisters and has been associated with the agency since 1991. Wearing many hats for Big Brothers Big Sisters, Sue has served as Program Director, Board member and Executive Director for the agency. Sue has over 18 years of experience in the Social Service profession and holds degrees from Judson College and Bessemer Technical College. In addition, Sue serves on the Governor’s Office on National and Community Service Board of Commissioners, serves on the Board of Directors for Legal AID, member of The Women's Network, member of the Birmingham Children's Policy Council, and is a member of the National Professional Association of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. She is also the current Treasurer of the Big Brothers Big Sisters State Association.
Shannon Belmont serves as the Office Manager for Big Brothers Big Sisters. She is a graduate of the University of Alabama, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a major in marketing. She is bringing more than 15 years experience in office management to the agency. Having a natural love for children, she has worked with several preschools in the Birmingham area. Shannon joined the Big Brothers Big Sisters team in August 2005.
Tameka Askew graduated from Jacksonville State University in April 2005 with a Bachelors of Social Work degree. Tameka interned with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calhoun County. She also is a licensed pharmacy technician; She worked with Wal-mart pharmacy for 6 years. Tameka began her career at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Birmingham in April of 2005.
Katrina D. Brown is a part-time Enrollment and Matching Specialist at Big Brother Big Sister. She graduated from the University of Alabama in 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a Minor in Public Communication. During her tenured at the University of North Alabama she was elected the First African American Female SGA President. Katrina is currently working on her Juris Doctorate from Birmingham School of Law. She is an active member of several community organizations.
Kim Egan is an Enrollment and Matching Specialist for Big Brothers Big Sisters. She is a graduate of the University of Montevallo, where she majored in social work and minored in family and child studies. She received her License of Social Work in November of 2001. Kim has worked for Big Brothers Big Sisters since June 2000. Kim also coordinates the “Bigs with Badges Program.”
Jennifer Fox is the Director of Public Relations for Big Brothers Big Sisters. She is a graduate of the
University
of
Alabama
, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Communications with a major in Telecommunications and Film. Jennifer is committed to making Big Brothers Big Sisters a standout in the Greater Birmingham area and a true leader in the community. Jennifer joined the Big Brothers Big Sisters team in November 2008.
Leontyne R. Gulley is the Director of Programs for Big Brothers Big Sisters. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, with a Minor in Social Psychology, from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She received her Masters of Science Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Kentucky in 2001. Her previous experience includes service as a therapist as well as in quality assurance as the Continuous Quality Improvement Director for a therapeutic foster care agency. Leontyne joined the BBBS team in June of 2006.
Jennifer Hall serves as the Chief Development Officer for Big Brothers Big Sisters and is charged with finding on-going philanthropic support for BBBS programs and services. Jennifer is a graduate of the School of Communications at the University of Alabama and has worked with a variety of nonprofits over the years. Currently, Jennifer is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and in December 2005, she received her designation as a Certified Fundraising Professional (CFRE). With this designation, Jennifer agrees to work to uphold the ethical standards of her profession and to dedicate herself to serving the nonprofit sector.
Matt Herring graduated from the University of Alabama in May of 2008 with a Master’s of Social Work. He also has experience with medical social work, having interned at Baptist Princeton Medical Center in Birmingham. Matt received his Master’s Level Social Work License (LGSW) in August 2008. He joined the Big Brothers Big Sisters team in October 2008 and works as an Enrollment and Matching Specialist for the agency.
Cindy Manning is a Match Support Specialist for Big Brothers Big Sisters. She graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor of Social Work and received her Social Work License in June 2008. Cindy worked for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Alabama for a year and a half and joined Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Birmingham in October 2008.
Kenneth Powell is a Match Support Specialist for Big Brothers Big Sisters. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he majored in criminal justice and minored in sociology and is a member of the UAB Alumni Association. He began his career working with children in 1996 at the Alabama Department of Youth Services before joining the Big Brothers Big Sisters family in January of 2001.
Tonya Rice is the Mentoring Coordinator for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Walker County Office. She has a degree in Cosmetology and worked as an Administrative Assistant before leaving the work force to be a stay at home mom. Tonya joined the BBBS team in October of 2007. She enjoys working with an organization that shares her passion for helping children. She lives with her husband and three daughters.
Kiranda Robbins is the School Based Match Support Specialist. Kiranda graduated from University of Montevallo with a Bachelor's Degree in Family and Consumer Sciences with a concentration in Child and Family Studies. Kiranda has volunteered with other organizations such as World Changers and Food for Friends. She joined the BBBS team in January 2006 as an Intern and became a permanent member of BBBS in June 2006.
Candace M. Smith is a Match Support Specialist for Big Brothers Big Sisters. She graduated from The University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Social Work. Candace interned with Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Alabama and worked at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina for 7 years. She also has experience working with mentally ill adults. Candace began her career with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Birmingham in June 2004.
Kimberly Vetrano is the Development Coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Management, with a Minor in Mass Communications, from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Kimberly began her career at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Birmingham in November 2007.
