Endowment
Launched in 2005 with a leadership gift of $1,000,000 from Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Founder Jack Taylor, the Big Brothers Big Sisters Endowment Fund is essential to the future of our agency. As we extend our reach to serve 10,000 young people, without compromising our exceptional level of quality service, long-term sustainable funding will become our foundation. Endowment funds provide a steady, predictable source of income over time in which BBBS can make commitments and grow its services to children.
To reach our initial goal of serving 10,000 young people we must address sustainability issues. “Serving more children and serving them better” is the theme on which we have built our endowment goals - we are committed to reaching more children through endowing matches and we are determined to serve them better by endowing our staff and interns.
Option 1: Endow a Match – unlimited opportunity
For every $20,000 donated to the endowment, one mentoring match can be supported in perpetuity in the donor’s name. This level of support will enable Big Brothers Big Sisters to recruit a mentor, enroll participants into the program, provide training, create program activities, and professionally support the one-to-one mentoring relationships.
Option 2: Endow a Staff Member – 40 fulltime staff positions
For every $50,000 donated, one staff member can be assured that they will receive the necessary on-going training and development and be equipped with the best tools and equipment. With the complexity of issues facing our staff today, more and more investments need to be made in their ongoing development. We recognize that our agency and its services are only as good as the staff – we aim to give our children, families and communities the best service, therefore, we must employ and develop the greatest people.
Option 3: Endow an Intern – 22 intern positions
For every $40,000 donated, one intern can be placed and given the opportunity to oversee some of our most valued partnerships. With the number of great colleges and universities in the St. Louis region, we have an enormous opportunity to reach out to the best and the brightest. We also believe that their early investment into St. Louis, through service, gives all of us greater assurance that they will stay in St. Louis and continue to add to the success of our region. Endowed internships will allow the agency the opportunity to guarantee semester stipends, dedicate funds for special projects and equip them with the necessary tools and equipment.
Big Brothers Big Sisters works hard, dreams big and consistently succeeds. Oldest. Largest. Most effective. Our success depends today, as it has since 1914, on our generous supporters and faithful friends.
