Conversation Starters

  • Talk about New Year’s Resolutions and ways to incorporate caring and fairness into your resolutions for the New Year.
  • Have a conversation about Martin Luther King Jr. and the work he did to move the US in the direction of fairness.
  • Did you know that January is National Mentoring Month? Talk about your mentoring relationship and goals you have for your friendship!

Big Idea Activity

  • Schnuck’s Cooks Classes - Saturday mornings at 10:30am - January 17, 24, 31 and Feb 7 - In conjunction with their George Washington Carver exhibit and Black History Month, the MO History Museum is offering classes designed for kids to learn about Carver in a fun way, applying his scientific discoveries to their everyday life. A LIttle Something Extra

  • Make sure to check out Project Peanut Butter and its goal to care for malnourished children in Africa. Check out: http://www.projectpeanutbutter.org/about.htm for more details.
  • Pick a volunteer project to do together to help someone else. Suggestions: nursing home, homeless shelter, hospital, animal shelter, etc.
  • Find a way to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day together
  • Make a list of things you and your Little want to do/share together and start working through them!
  • Put together a photo album or scrap book to chronicle your relationship so far.
