Travel Guidelines

If you and your Little have been in the program 6 months, you are now able to travel together.  Keep in mind that trips are not a program requirement, it all depends on what works for your match.  If you decide that this is a good option for you and your Little, here are some travel guidelines to keep you safe!

Out of town travel is defined as 30 miles outside of BBBS service area (St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Jefferson County, Cape Girardeau County, and Scott County.)

  • Make sure to get approval from Little’s parent and/or guardian before travel arrangements are made.
  • Talk to your Little-are they comfortable?  Keep in mind age, maturity, and overall comfort of match.
  •  Have you spoken to your MSS about their thoughts and your plans?
  •  If you are traveling together by air, it must be through a commercial airline.  Private planes or Big pilots are not eligible to fly their Little.
  •  If you are traveling in a group, make sure that you are always supervising and driving your Little.
  •  If you are planning on staying overnight, make sure to have a private place for your Little to sleep and change.
