What is a mentor ?
A mentor is often a trusted friend, someone who takes time to share his or her own experiences in order to help a friend, someone in need, or someone who shares similar interests.
Our Big Brothers and Big Sisters mentor youth in our community in a variety of ways, from shooting hoops to doing homework to just plain "hanging out." There are all kinds of ways to mentor a child. By becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister, you can make a difference in the life of a child just by being there.
I've made the decision to become a BIG...what next?
Once you've decided to become a Big, there are a few steps to complete before you are matched with a new Little Brother or Little Sister!
- An application must be completed and turned in to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri. An application can be completed under the "Apply Today" tab of our website. Applications are also available via e-mail, or a Big Brothers Big Sisters staff member will be happy to drop one in the mail!

Upon receipt of your application, a representative from Big Brothers Big Sisters will contact you to set up an interview with an Entrollment Specialist. The interview allows us to get to know you, but also gives you a chance to voice your preferences about activities you enjoy doing and the type of Little with which you would like to be matched
