Attorneys for Big Brothers Big Sisters
Holds First Fundraising Event at Headquarters

St. Louis, MO – November 19, 2009 –  Attorneys for Big Brothers Big Sisters holds its first fundraising event tonight, November 19th, at the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri headquarters. Over 60 area attorneys will attend the event supporting the agency’s mission to provide a mentor for every child who wants and needs one.

Attorneys for Big Brothers Big Sisters is a coalition of legal professionals working to connect the legal community with Big Brothers Big Sisters by:

• Increasing funding from area attorneys
• Recruiting attorneys and legal professionals to serve as Big Brothers Big Sisters
• Building the “Legal Corps,” which will be dedicated to educating and advocating for Big Brothers Big Sisters and their mentoring matches.  

The coalition is a natural fit for the agency given that Big Brothers Big Sisters of America was founded in the legal community by a young court clerk, Ernest Coulter, in 1904. Just 10 years later, Judge Thomas C. Hennings, Jr. founded the local affiliate, known at the time as Big Brothers Association of St. Louis. Today, Attorneys for Big Brothers Big Sisters is the living legacy of the legal community’s contributions, both present and future.
