The nation’s leading youth mentoring organization is growing to reach local children who need a Big Brother or Big Sister.

Our Mission: To help children become confident, competent and caring individuals through a professionally supported, one-on-one relationship with an effective adult mentor.

In our lives, each one of us has been touched by someone - other than our parents - who broadened our horizons, made the mundane special, and transformed us with little moments of magic in our everyday lives. Do you remember the person who brought that light into your life? By volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Cincinnati, you can do the same for a child. And you will both be forever changed by the experience.

Children need adult friends in their lives to help guide them through life’s many obstacles. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Cincinnati, has a rich history of nurturing friendships between caring adult volunteers and children and youth. For nearly 70 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has served thousands of children in the Greater Cincinnati community through its mentoring programs. Through these experiences, a difference has been made in the lives of thousands of children.

The Big Brother movement was started in Cincinnati in 1903 by businessman Irv Westheimer. His idea to reach out to fatherless boys gained support in Cincinnati, then spread coast-to-coast and expanded to include young girls. There are now nearly 500 Big Brother Big Sister agencies in the United States - our agency is the 16th largest in the nation.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Cincinnati matches children between the ages 8-13 who are living in single-parent or non-parent homes in an eleven county area: Hamilton, Clermont and Brown in Ohio; Boone, Kenton, Campbell, Grant and Pendleton in Kentucky; and Dearborn, Ohio and Ripley Counties in Indiana.
