Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida is known for hosting several major fundraisers each year: Bowl for Kids’ Sake, Margarita J’Ville and The Annual Reggie Hunt Golf Classic . Funds raised from these events are critical to our recruitment and support of additional volunteers to continue our mission of serving the over 45,000 “at risk” children in our service area. Last year, over 1,900 children were matched with a “Big”. With your help, we hope to increase the number of children’s lives that we touch each year by 20%.
Bowl for Kids' Sake
Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser is the mainstay of our individual funding portfolio. The BFKS model is as follows: a Team Captain locates 4 team members; each participant garners a minimum of $100 in pledges (total of $500 per team) and then attends the bowling event. During the event, prizes and incentives will be offered to create a fun filled memorable day.
Bowl For Kids' Sake (BFKS) is Big Brothers Big Sisters' largest national fund-raising campaign. For more than 20 years, Bowl For Kids' Sake has been a primary funding stream for most BBBS agencies.
It’s Not About Bowling…It’s About Kids. The primary way that revenue is generated from BFKS is by individuals who solicit pledges from their circle of contacts to support their best bowling game at a Big Brothers Big Sisters hosted party. These contacts can be our "Bigs", their friends and families, donors, parents of "Littles", vendors, contractors, business associates, or schoolteachers. In addition, corporate/business sponsors provide cash and in kind contributions to underwrite event costs.
Bowl for Kids’ Sake Demographics: BFKS is the primary fund-raising vehicle for BBBS affiliates nationwide. The events garner media exposure in nearly 400 markets and over 4,000 cities and towns across the country
Margarita J'Ville
Through the generous, sponsorship of the PGA TOUR and the TPC Sawgrass, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida will be hosting our Sixth Annual “Margarita J’Ville” Party on September 25, 2009 at the beautiful TPC Sawgrass. Last year, “Margarita J’Ville” raised over $75,000 enabling us to provide volunteer “Bigs” for over 1900 children.
Our Key West-themed event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with fabulous Caribbean cuisine, free-flowing margaritas, beer and live entertainment by the band “Mid-Life Crisis”. We create a fun-filled, relaxed, Jimmy Buffett-style atmosphere where everyone comes dressed in their favorite island attire. Tickets for the event are $100 per person.
Reggie Hunt Memorial Golf Classic
The Amelia Island Plantation will host the 14th Annual Reggie Hunt Memorial Golf Classic at the Ocean links course on Tuesday, November 17, 2009. The event held in Nassau County is held annually in memory of Reggie Hunt, a former Fernandina High School student athlete and 6 year participant in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nassau County program, who died tragically as a teenager in an accident in August, 1996.
Participants tee off at noon to a shot gun start. At the conclusion of play there is a steak cookout with refreshments and awards.
