Quick Steps to Become a Big
-
-
Interview. A member of our staff will interview you in person.
-
Background Check. Child safety is our priority, so we'll review your records to ensure that our program is a good fit for you.
-
References. You'll need to provide references of people we can talk to about your ability to be a mentor.
-
Matching. We will review children in your area who need a Big and find the best fit for you. Depending on your gender, interests and preferences, matching may go very quickly or take a little more time. Making the right match is important. We want your friendship to last!
Once Matched, We'll Support Your Friendship
Each volunteer-child match is supported by our professional staff. Match Support Specialists will regularly check in with you, your Little, and his/her parent or guardian. And our staff is always available to answer questions or help you address a concern.
Events for Bigs & Littles: Our agency sponsors regular events to give you an opportunity to meet other matches. Plus, through the generosity of local businesses and supporters, there are often free tickets to ball games, movies, and recreational events!
