  Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County Bowl for Kids’ Sake 2009 Annual Fundraiser was a Success!

Big Brothers Big Sisters annual signature fundraiser, Bowl for Kids Sake 2009, was held March 29th bringing out more than 375 casual bowlers to Bowling Time Lanes in New Windsor. Bowlers enjoyed bowling, raffle prizes donated by many local businesses, music courtesy of Party Time Productions, free food courtesy of Loughran’s Irish Pub & Restaurant of Salisbury Mills, entertainment and games courtesy of WHUD 100.7, and beverages courtesy of ShopRite in Vail’s Gate. Deep thanks was expressed for the business support for the event including Presenting Sponsor Citizens Bank, Strike Sponsors Chubb Insurance, The Thayer Hotel, and Walden Savings Bank and Spare Sponsors New Windsor Country Inn, Inspire, Geovation Engineering, TD Banknorth, and Advance Testing. The day rolled out a successful event, bringing in more than $31,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County’s countywide community, school and site based mentoring programs.

Nancy Kosloski, expressed deep gratitude for the continued support displayed by the 73 teams made up of co-workers, friends and family who came throughout the day. Their presence was a community statement that, despite the waving economy, the community is there to support the local need for prevention and positive youth development of our children. Amy Hagerty, a Big Sister volunteer from Walden Federal Bank walked away with the “Soaring Eagle Award” for bringing in nine teams. This traveling award is up for grabs next year.    

Special Employee volunteers came out to assist in the event enhancing its success. Members of Kohl’s A-Team from Newburgh and Middletown volunteered their time to serve food, enabling a $1,000 grant from the Kohl’s corporate office. American Eagle Outfitters, secured a $500 donation from the AE Foundation, supporting the Foundation’s partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Walden Savings Bank, led by Tim Hoppe, voluntarily manned the registration table for the entire event and raised $600 through their ‘Dress Down For a Cause’ day. This year’s event included a special raffle for a football signed by NY Giants Player Antonio Pierce donated by the NY Giants and won by Frank Colella.

Split Sponsors included Walden Federal Savings Bank, World Wide Travel, The Reis Group, Orange County Trust Company, Valuation Consultants, Newburgh Performing Arts Academy, Stewart’s Shops, Crossley Associates, Stanley, Marks & Company, CPA’s, Orange Regional Medical Center, Mid-City Transit, Maser Consulting, Manza Family Farm, Lanc & Tully Engineering, Val-U-Office, and Architectural Door and Hardware. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County would like to extend their appreciation to all of the businesses and participants for their generous support.
