Holiday Assistance

Big Brothers Big Sisters continues to collaborate this year with other organizations in the community to offer Thanksgiving and Christmas assistance to families in need.

Although we no longer provide baskets directly, we are providing you with the attached information about organizations in the community that provide holiday assistance directly to families in need. This coordination of effort allows organizations to provide a more centralized approach to holiday assistance in order to avoid duplication of effort and help meet the needs of the community. Whether you are a donor or a recipient of donations, please let these partner organizations know you were directed by Big Brothers Big Sisters so allocations can be made accordingly.

In addition to this holiday information, referrals to specific community organizations for ongoing health and human service needs can be obtained from:

  • Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham Counties: Capital Area Human Services Connection at 2-1-1 or toll free at (866) 561-2500, or online at www.centralmichigan211.org. Input your zip code, select ‘Community Resources” and search for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Holiday Assistance.
  • Ionia County: ENRICH of Ionia County at (616) 522-1126.
  • Shiawassee County: United Way at (888) 866-4566.

If you wish to apply for holiday assistance this year, or wish to donate, the following information will help you to determine when, where, and how to apply. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call us at (517) 372-0160 or toll-free at (877) 483-7145.
