Lunch Buddies Needed!

Lunch buddies is a great way to make a difference in a child's life, while having fun!  Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lakeshore offers one Lunch Buddy program.  The site location is Edgewood (Muskegon Heights).  Each volunteer will be matched with a Little Brother or Little Sister.  You will meet with your Little at school one day a week, for one hour during lunch.  You can eat lunch, read books, play board games, and do arts & crafts projects.  It's amazing the wonderful friendships that develop during this limited period of time.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Hosts Garden Party at Hampton Green Farms

  Muskegon, MI — Don your most extravagant hats, ladies! Gentlemen, grab a straw boater and escort your lady to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lakeshore’s first English Garden Party on Thursday, August 25, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the beautiful facilities at Hampton Green Farms.

 The 185-acre Hampton Green Farms – located in Fruitport - is one of the nation’s foremost breeders of Pure Spanish horses, and also home to world champion dressage stallions. It is dedicated exclusively to the breeding and training of these horses, which are renowned for their strength, beauty, and gentle grace. 

 The BBBSL English Garden Party will include a genteel dinner under romantic tents, a cash bar, tours of Hampton Green Farms, the music of a soothing string quartet, and a 30-minute performance featuring the graceful champion dressage stallions.

Hampton Green Farms is located at 5440 E. Farr Road, in Fruitport. Adult tickets cost $30; children five through 16 cost $15; children four and under are free.

 Regina Sjoberg, Executive Director of BBBSL, remarks, “This is really a family event. The farm itself is amazing, the horses are beautiful, and the food – which will be catered by the Hearthstone Restaurant – will be incredible. We are so appreciative of the Hampton Green Farms staff’s help with this event!”

 Funds raised by the event will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lakeshore, which provides professionally supported adult mentors to at-risk youth. Sjoberg notes, “We help kids reach their full potential. The presence of caring adults in the lives of our children make all the difference in preventing early parenting, substance abuse, and other negative life choices. Our English Garden Party will be lots of fun for everyone, but it will also enable us to support more matches in our service areas. We hope everyone will come out, support us, and just have a lovely time.”
