For 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters Twin Cities has created and supported mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. During the last century, almost half a million Twin Cities young people have had their lives changed through Big Brothers Big Sisters.
The organization is part of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the most respected mentoring organization in the world, serving youth in all 50 states and 12 countries. BBBS Twin Cities consistently ranks as one of the highest-performing Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies in the country and the largest and oldest mentoring agency in the region, serving the Twin Cities metro region, including Anoka, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey and Washington counties.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is a visionary leader giving direction to the organization, and upholding the agency’s philosophy and mission while achieving its strategy, annual objectives and goals. The CEO oversees a staff of over 45 professionals, a budget of over $5 million and a collection of successful, innovative programs.
The CEO will have a passion for serving children and youth, along with a belief in the transformative power of mentoring. The CEO will uphold and enhance a positive culture of teamwork, support collaboration among staff; build and maintain long-term relationships with stakeholders, businesses, elected officials, community leaders, other nonprofits and the media; be active in community outreach and external relations on behalf of BBBS-TC and maintain a positive and active profile.
Responsibilities of the role include strategic planning, Board of Directors collaboration, organizational development and leadership, fundraising and resource development, marketing, program management and financial oversight. The ideal leader will have strong interpersonal skills, a professional, enthusiastic, genuine personality, effective communication skills, a capacity to build and maintain respectful and trusting relationships and an ability to engage in productive, meaningful conversations with the community.
• Establish a consistent vision and mission, and develop strategies and objectives to achieve the mission
• Be a positive and engaged leader of staff, creating an inclusive, transparent and collaborative work environment
• Act as ambassador and connector in the community and nationally for Big Brothers Twin Cities and its vision and mission.
• Provide leadership to all fundraising efforts and initiatives.
• Provide vision and guidance to the internal operation of the agency Work with the Board of Directors to assist in the governance of the organization.
The ideal candidate will be a respected leader with the qualifications to lead a prominent, successful organization into the future. The candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education in management or a related field and senior executive experience in an organization of a comparable budget, staff and program size and complexity. In addition, the ideal candidate will have a demonstrated passion for youth development and for furthering equity and inclusion.
