Director of Programs – [Islandia, NY]

We are seeking a Director of Programs to lead our team committed to making a measurable difference in the lives of Long Island youth. The Director of Programs is responsible for the successful administration of the program including creation, maintenance and growth of a quality program through effective community outreach and agency sponsored activities; continuously fosters strong community interaction that brings in new prospects, community partners, volunteer mentors and pro-actively finds at-risk youth.

The successful candidate must be a big picture thinker with the capacity to implement multiple projects to meet short term objectives supporting long term goals.  We are looking for a leader to create a highly motivated staff who are effective in implementing directives with achieving results.

Required Competencies: Strategic thinking and plan implementation with excellent management skills; Sound decision making; excellent communication and presentation skills; creativity, flexibility and a strong, non-judgmental, customer/constituent service ethic.

Qualifications: Minimum Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree highly preferred) preferably three years related work experience. Must have proven experience in a leadership capacity responsible for staff and program development. Superior management skills with the ability to influence and motivate are required. Candidate must be detail and customer service oriented, organized and able to work effectively with diverse constituencies.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills desired.  Computer skills and database management required.
